Perhaps the most important decision you will make when purchasing a new heating/cooling system is WHO will install the system and provide on-going service and warranty support. Consider the following when choosing an installation contractor:
• Verify that the contractor is licensed, insured and bonded. This protects you if something should go wrong. Check the contractor's record with the Better Business Bureau as well as the Registrar of Contractors to ensure there have been no complaints filed against them. Kool Energy has a complaint-free record with the BBB and ROC.
• It is in your best interest to choose a contractor who has a long history of doing business. This longevity shows the contractor is experienced and that they will be around for years to come to follow through with warranty/guarantee promises. Kool Energy has served residents of the Phoenix area for 30 years. We'll be there when you need us!
• Demand a full heating and cooling load calculation on your home. If the HVAC contractor asks you the square footage of your home to determine equipment size, he is taking a shortcut. You may end up with a unit that is not a good fit for your home. There are many factors other than square footage that are important in determining the size of equipment your home needs, i.e. insulation, direction the windows face, and quality of construction. Kool Energy does a full load calculation using Manual J software to determine proper equipment size for your home.
• Obtain a written proposal. Eliminate companies that write their "special price" on the back of a business card. If a company takes shortcuts with your proposal, they might take shortcuts on the installation, too. The proposal should include a detailed description of work to be done, warranties, and prices. Make sure the proposal shows the company's license number. Request prices on more than one option. Kool Energy will provide you with at least three different new equipment options. The proposal will describe the work to be done, warranties, and pricing. It is not an estimate; it is a specific quote.
